We would like to send out a congratulations to
some of the players for the Mississippi Blues for being nominated for
awards in the ABA' s South Division. Rodrick Smith (Jackson State University, MBEL, ABA) was nominated for Defensive player of the year and Rookie of the year. Rod is averaging 18 pts, 10 rebs, and 3 blks a game. He has come up big for the Blues all year.with his All- Star performances. Jarell Jones (Pikeville College, MBEL, WBA, ABA) is nominated for 1st Team All South Division and ABA All-Star game. Jarell who is averaging 16 pts, 4 rebs, and 6 ast a game has shown his leadership skills at the point guard position leading the Blues in assist and is among the ABA top 10 in assist this season. Bobby Johnson (Belhaven College, MBEL, PBL, ABA) is nominated for the ABA's All-Star game. Johnson who is averaging 19 pts, 8 rebs, and 3 stls a game has performed at a high level throughout the season. Johnson coming off a 30 point, 10 rebound, and 5 steal game against the Texas Fuel out of San Antonio, TX has all but solidified his spot as a 1st team All South Divisional Player. Daniel Price (Pikeville College, WBA, CBA, MBEL, ABA) is being nominated for South Division player of the year and 1st Team All South Division. Price is averaging 17 pts, 6 rebs, 3.5 stls a game. Since Price joined the team his defensive presence has help the Blues slow down some of the ABA's top scorers. Price bring a veteran leadership to the team. Daniel has one double- double on the season with 17 points and 10 assist and 6 steals coming close to a triple- double. Team owners and coaches will be voting on nominations this weekend.
